While cleaning up my itunes folder, i came across this noisy old test recording of stephen foster's "hard times come again no more" I did on the Chapman Stick when i was trying to get guitar rig to work on my mac. i had watched the stephen foster documentary on the "American Experience" PBS show the night before which prompted me to use this song for the test.

I kinda like it even though it was noisy and it's dropping out in a couple of places. Has a nice americana feel i think...

really really nice slice of Americana! This great song was on a CD compilation I produced which included the artists who performed at the Cofee Den. It was performed by finger stylist extraordinaire Richard Sharp.

Stephen Foster was born in a town less than 1 minute outside Pittsburgh here, and every year they celebrate the "Doo-Dah" days in which all artists come out and play Stephen Foster songs. There is a theatre named for him and a statue in his honor outside of the University of Pittsburgh near Carnegie Library.

So, if you ever want to come, I think you'd do a fine job and Mr. Foster will wink down from heaven!
