Post New Video - "Old School" Soul + Funk on the Stick
Greetings everyone,

I've been experimenting with some new groove ideas and ended up making a video. This was fun, hope you like it!

Damn Kevin K!

Sounded to me like you're channeling a bit of Emmett's old modulation effects in the right hand.

All the most accomplished Stick players have a visible ease with their Stick. But I have to say, Kevin, that you make that instrument look like an extension of your body. I always marveled at the complete comfort that Hendrix displayed with the guitar. You seem to show the same with the Stick, and it comes out in your amazing playing. I should live long enough to have even half that familiarity (this after a somewhat frustrating couple of hours of practice today!! )

So many of Emmett's techniques inspired me but I honestly could never figure out half of them! Lol.
One day I want to try to cover one of my favorite Emmett tunes, "Pumpernickel Pump" from Parallel Galaxy. I'm going to have to practice a lot to get that one though!

I really appreciate that. It's funny, my early years playing the Stick I would practice and practice and then, I would get on stage ready to perform and suddenly my right hand would turn into a brick. It was so frustrating!

I've never performed in public, but that pretty much describes my daily lived experience pretty well!
