Playing with Chick Corea
Today Chick Corea posted a free small clip on youtube of his documentary "musician" released in 2016 where i had the honor of taking part. We recorded a concert-jam the day of his birthday with no audience at a place called Casa Patas in Madrid. The line up is:
Chick Corea on piano and keyboards Niño Josele on guitar Jorge pardo on flute and palmas Paquete on cajon Miguel Hiroshi on cajon Paquete Chico on cajon Me (Tomás Merlo) on electric bass
I know it´s not stick related but it´s me on bass and i thought might be cool to post it here. You can buy the complete docu at his website, it´s worth checking it out, many clips with incredible musicians such as John Patitucci, Dave Weckl, Stanley Clarke etc etc

Re: Playing with Chick Corea
What great fun! Like a family, even though Chick doesn't identify very closely to the Spanish bloodline (surprise to me). His name seems enigmatic but I always assumed he was somehow Latino. Now I'm more puzzled than ever. He calls it a spiritual connection with Spain.
I still have his "My Spanish Heart" LP, which gave me the greatest kick in the butt in the early '80s - the most impressive music I'd heard at that time, and yes, from the heart. Before that, I'd heard him live a few times when Tim Buckley and I would attend his trio concerts in the early '70s at the Penguin in Santa Monica. There he played abstract cat and mouse games with the bassist and drummer - experimental jazz for sure and totally atonal. Imagine my surprise when "Return to Forever" was later released (Back to the Future).
Now we see Tomás on bass guitar in Spain with him. Is it a performance or a family reunion or a whole lot of both? I guess, when music is in your bones, it surpasses all bloodlines. Blood, bones, I've got some skin in the game too (no doubt from my mother's Chicago Italian side).

Re: Playing with Chick Corea
C.C. & friends as back-up band for a dancer. Pretty cool gig/playing. Nice bass wish I still had my J.B. I had Inner Space on 8-track that I listened to almost continuously in my '64 Dodge A100 van back in the late '70's. Along with Frank Zappa Roxy & Elsewhere. Before I packed up to go to Berklee. Where the van & the tapes got stolen. To tell you the truth, Berklee discounted Chick's playing and bands back then. And they REALLY didn't like F.Z. One of the reasons I left after two semesters
