Reich Dream - Improv
I was at work listening to Steve Reich all afternoon. When I got home I was inspired to just play so I fired up my rig and this is what happened. Completely improvised. Kind of a dreamy combination of Reich inspired riffs with some "Sheltering Sky" layers.
I unfortunately didn't think to start recording until the first part of the loop was built so that's where this starts. The first part is several layers of clean Stick played right on the frets with no effects at all except a little reverb. Then I kicked on the Valhalla Shimmer and started layering the dreamy stuff over top.
At the end it was gone. Never to be repeated.

Re: Reich Dream - Improv
Yeah, this is good. I'm a Reich fan and the way you nailed that repeating harmonized bit sounds like it was pulled directly from one of this tracks.
Melody is sparse and beautiful. An alien landscape? A time lapse image of a flower unfolding? A butterfly emerging from it's cocoon?
I can go anywhere with this. Good job Glenn.

Re: Reich Dream - Improv
Lately I've been thinking a lot about music as a primal need of human beings, like food, water, sex, community. When I can close my eyes and leave myself for a moment, that's the best feeling.
Thanks for the psychic smoothie, Glenn!

Far out Glenn!
At the beginning that doesn’t sound like stick at all. That’s kind of a good thing, right?!. Shows how beautiful the dry sound can be. Such a beautiful combination of textures. It’s really special to hear that just now before a little late night stick sesh.
Lots o sticky luv.
