Dude sounds great! How are you liking the new shape? I'm considering a grand railboard for my eventual next stick

Post Re: Grand Railboard doodling
well personally there is a lot of adjustments here :

-new feel holding a railboard vs wooden stick-fingers are quite close to thumb

- heavier instrument

-new tuning(MR w/hi bass 4th)..although probably will change it to RMR - still a change after i got used to classic tuning

- string spacing

so in general i kind of feel i went about two years back in experience..
BUT i wouldn't regret it for a moment..just need to settle for those adjustments

of all the above the main consideration is string spacing (have you tried 12 strings?), which i know some people find it hard to adjust

Tyler just got a 12 string recently but i haven't had the opportunity to try it out yet, though i'm eager to. Hearing what he's doing with the extra range too is quite cool and really piqued my interest in going from 10 to 12

I got an SG12 and I found it strange going from Railboard 10 to twelve but Im loving it. Havent tried a 12 string railboard. Hopefully someone will have one in Interlochen to try. The learning curve should be pretty quick. This sounds great Boaz. Loving the synth stuff and everything else you do. So excited you got a new Stick

Well I don't really play the bit..the synth sound of the pipe organ asked for it..at least those few intro notes

Congrats on the new Stick. You're gonna love it. And it won't take long to get used to it if you practice a lot. As far as moving from classic to MR vs RMR, the bass/melody offset is the same. It's a matter of tuning the bass side up a whole step or tuning the melody down a whole step. The way my mind works is that I get my note/visual mapping cues from the bass side markers and find it's much easier to assimilate the melody side offset and its relationship to the bass side if the classic bass side tuning is not disturbed - in other words MR trumps RMR for visual cues (for me). Range-wise, I'd rather give up the 2 highest notes on my highest string than give up the bass notes and chord forms you'd lose in RMR. It's all relative of course if you're not thinking about particular keys. High bass 4th will work in any 5ths/4ths tuning including classic 6+6 BTW.
