Klein Stomp--"RAKKARD" w/ Railboard & NS/Stick--3D Fractals & Music Done with Chapman Stick Railboard, NS/Stick, and drums. https://soundcloud.com/stephen-sink-1/rakkard RAKKARD is the cologne my kids got me for Christmas ("Drakkar") spelled backwards, and pronounced "rock hard," with the accent on the second syllable. Tracks also used for the 2017 New Year All Stickist Rockathon. Fractal Videos Section ("Klein Stomp") Seizure warning: audio sync fractal animation, resulting in strobelike lights and colors. Fractal color speed is synced to the volume amplitude at the frequency of each snare drum hit. This is an effect that others like more than me, so feel free to like it or not. I'm determined to find a useful audio sync parameter that doesn't feel like a strobe light. Just gotta comment on Steve's latest layers of visual and sonic effects: WISH LIST - More striking visual sync to the music, maybe geared to Railboard bass instead of electronic drums, or maybe just to the downbeat? - A live drummer phrasing and battling away in solo mode with divisions and spaces? - Final emerging Mandelbrotion walrus with embryonic potential. Has a personality, needs a face. Love the wiry, funky Stick bass - as is.

They were basically a metronome for the Stickist Collab, and the Railboard is a better instrument to track. In fact, for really optimum effects, I'd want to write a bass line and an opening that would lend itself well to being synced to, instead of writing the music in isolation. I'll keep playing with it, and I need to write a short minute and a half Stick piece with audio syncing in mind. Maybe a rthymic bass riff that pulsed around as a flourish occasionally. Or maybe just animate the chorus for optimal effect. As for a live drummer, my son Xavier (13) is becoming quite the drummer. He plays jazz band and orchestra percussion and he's getting to be a monster on the trap set. I should start using him for videos! Anyway, the audio sync fractals hold more promise to explore. But the keyframes from this animation came out really well with a brand-new technique for Mandelbulber, called "Monte Carlo global Illumination," which combines raytracing with a Monte Carlo point-by-pixel to examine where all the reflected light rays are in a scene and add them together. Each image takes 2-4 hours to render but the results are spectacular.
