Organic Layers - Prog Rock
I just remixed this piece featuring Stick Bass, two-handed Stick interludes, keyboards, and Electric Violin and guitar (played by friends) plus surprise vocals from me at the end of the piece!

Re: Organic Layers - Prog Rock
Jeremy,
That was great! I loved the trumpety beginning and then into some Hammon-y comping goodness and some shredding. Then breakdown at 1:45 and back to more keyboard goodness. And not a theramin but something close. And then the sweet, sweet violin.
And we're mellow now at 5 and a half in. Totally different feel and more guitar centered.
At 7, we're rocking it out again. I like those extended keyboard arpeggios starting low and going way up. And then vocals! Okay, we were rocking it out until then! Just kidding--I get what you're doing there.
Jeremy, I really, really liked this, and not just because you're my LinnStrument hero. This really rocked! You've very much inspired me to do some longer pieces. And with more analogy keybooard solos. I've been in a piano phase lately and your prog rock analog patch-cord behemoth synth lines and B3-ey comping makes me want to put the pianer away for a bit.
Great stuff--MORE!!!

Thanks for the very kind words! It really helped to bring in other players for this song - especially when the players are so much better than I could hope to achieve by playing the parts myself.

The song is featured on a new Eddie Jobson tribute album (and has a new mix). The song and album are available for free on Bandcamp: https://toas.bandcamp.com/track/organic-layers

Re: Organic Layers - Prog Rock
Thanks Jeremy for that! I don't know where to begin, so I won't. Just to say, the electronic drums were spectacular. It's in your head, so my guess is, you could play it live, that is, with a heavy practice schedule and some weightlifting.
The orchestration was also spectacular, and the way you doctored those sparkling highs. I always thought music should be a three-ring circus for the senses - where to look first and what's coming next?
Rich density of sound and transparent at the same time, can't do better than that!

Re: Organic Layers - Prog Rock
Thanks so much, Emmett! The drums were played with the Zendrum but I did edit them to correct my flubs. I will do some light weight lifting with the new Railboard that is heading my way (thank you)!
I was lucky to have a real violin player (Bruce Lebovitz) on this tune. The violin/Stick interlude in the middle was a lot of fun and I hope to play that with him live.

Re: Organic Layers - Prog Rock
Is There a Tarkus in there? I couldn't help noticing, and it would be even more interesting if it was not intended. But Jeremy, this is astonishing! It stopped me in my tracks and made me put my coffee down and just sit. So much tension, so much resolution. So many unexpected turns and surprises. Your the man . .~ jRj
