From how far away can it detect like, say Megadeth or Slayer? And is it in imperial or metric as far as the distancing? Is there calibrations for varying levels of intensity or are you just sort of turning it up more?

Could it pick up on crossover bands like DRI or weirdo goth power metal like King Diamond? And could it differentiate between Dream Theater and Sons of Apollo, or perhaps have troubles with Ronnie Dio's various projects (Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell and Dio)? Bands like COB and Death may slip past, but you have to know they are quite metal, yet crappy projects like Celtic Frost may be detected as full metal.

So yeah, your product better be able to measure up or it will face the fury... Sounds like it's probably complete junk, but hey if I am mistaken please let me know....

Very good point - grunge, and alternative (alternative to what?) might completely confuse that thing...

Post Re: cheap metal detectors
In the 80s to 90s, it was easy to detect the cheap metal bands: by the quantity of the hairspray that they used. I can't remember if the talent was inverse or proportional to the amount of hairspray. Or both. I think even EVH and the boys had a can or two, and you know Diamond David Lee didn't leave home without it. Then grunge came along, and killed the cheap metal detector, while stepping up the supply of cheap, 3-4-chord metal bands. Now, flannel had to make-do where hairspray used to signify the metallicness....

This thread is why Stickists are awesome people. 8-)

So, a funny story, that. One day I saw earthgene post a gif and said pretty much the same thing. "What the fuckety-frick-frack?"

The short answer: exactly the same as you do a jpeg. The longer answer is that Stickist will only pull some site's gifs and not others. Gify.com won't work but Imgur will. The only way for me to see what will work is to do the following:

1. Google "rock hair band gif" and click on the one you like.
2. Go to where the source image is hosted and copy the link.
3. Past it into Stickist, use the image tag, and hit Preview to see if it loads. If not, go back to Step 1 until complete.

I tried "chapman stick gif" and this is what I got: https://i.imgur.com/TmBJmYl.gif
Add the image tag,
Code:
[img]https://i.imgur.com/TmBJmYl.gif[/img]

And Bob's your uncle! BOB!!!
Image
Imgur gifs will almost always load. Gify gifs will never. Best of luck; go forth and gif! Rock it out!
