Post Stick Tune - Strength (Original)
Well, I thought I'd see how things are after a week or so of practice. I've been kind of working on this one as a series of motifs to practice over for a little while. I spent a couple of hours tonight refining it, but truthfully it was a full week of practice, even though I always do something somewhat different for my solo bit, it's basically the same idea.

This one's tempo is roughly 140bpm. I hit record to see what was what; yes lots of min9 chords, and the piece used an E Harmonic minor note pool. (B mixob9b13 for those B7 implications...) I'm still pulling a couple of notes sharp in a spot or two on the bass side, but I am liking those sustained 4 note chords on the melody side. More to come... :D

Hell yeah Scott. You're really getting your own thing going on. The STICK needs more of it ( IMHO) , a bit longer and we'll have a full tilt Chapman Shredder, and thats cool! :D

Hey man, thanks for checking out the tune, and for noticing that I am doing my own thing!

You should get a Red Bull endorsement for this one! Well done.

That's one of the more proggier things I've heard you do, Scott. Lots of cool energy here, and lots of chord flavorings explored through the runs against the bass. Very energetic bassline against somewhat simple melodies that are punctuated with pyrotechnic runs. I was really digging your melody string bendings and also bass bending. Got that diggy-diggy bass sound going awesomely.

I could hear the definite shift halfway through from one modality to the next. Ah, this is the middle section, with the verse in front and after.

Very "strong" tune here, Scott! I dig this style you're developing and creating.

And this is why I like prog rock and don't like jazz (as much): it's not the harmonic complexity--it's the beat. Give me a rocking tempo and beat and I'll let you modulate and stack chords all day long, as long as I can headbang to it.

Good job on this one, JS Kerr.
