Scott's musical reign of terror begins anew... What the heck, everyone else plays it so I thought I'd hit y'all with a shoddy practice version complete with a very primitive "beginner's version" of a "moving" bassline. Taught it to myself... No fancy solos or anything, this is just the head played for fun as I stare out at the bloody blizzard we have going on here... ahhh well... At least my input jack is fixed! Woo! Enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/jayesskerr/stick-autumn-leaves |

And hey, for the record there are no more Autumn leaves where I live. It's a whole lot of snow, and it's a bit frosty outside. Oh, y'all aren't all bored of this tune being played on Stick I hope! Haha |

Sweet! I like this one. A nice, easy bass, almost walking, more ambling along with some arpeggio flourishes near the end. Melody seemed fairly basic and unembellished but a nice, clear tone. You now have my envy sir (not that you didn't a couple years ago) at your Incredible sightreading and now Stickplaying skills. |

Hey! Thanks as always for listening man! This was an interesting one, I am quite fond of the melody for this tune and thought I'd work on some different bass line ideas that get me closer to a "walk"... not too difficult to execute, but I think it sounds not too bad. A starting point, to be sure... |

It was interesting, I dug out my railboard and tried to play through this tune. It was doable, but very, very weird. I am so accustomed to my 12 string that it was downright alien to play! I tried matched reciprocal tuning, but you know mirrored 4ths keeps things on the bass side a lot closer together as far as chords go, and it's amazing how much I use the 6th string on both sides if only for reference. I definitely feel a connection to my 12 str... Anyways, I know that everybody and their dog plays this song but it's a great tune to help get your playing together. I use jazz standards not just for reading practice, and repertoire, but as a framework to compose solos and work on my improvisation. Awright, back to practice. |
