Post Tap Theory - Voice Leading Basics
Hey guys, this week's topic is something I have a great deal of fun putting into practice. Voice leading is an art all its own, and there are many techniques, period-based rules, and approaches that help one create lots of different sounds and textures. The concepts and techniques apply really naturally to the Stick, and this video gives a thousand-yard view of how to approach voice leading for this crazy instrument. As always, exercises and more available at http://www.patreon.com/jgoldbergmusic. Enjoy!

Post Re: Tap Theory - Voice Leading Basics
Cool stuff, Josh. I have never played a horn, or woodwind(other than synth patches), but I can picture this would be a great way to begin composing horn section parts. I think I have just sort of instinctually done this with my melody side parts, but if I ever did this on the bass side, it was likely an accident.

Thanks for sharing.

Mike

mike, some of the coolest parts I've ever written have come from attempts at good voice leading. MIDI makes the horn idea you mentioned very doable. Glad you got something out of this video!
