Post Gained out "Rock" Stick jam
... Thought I'd share, it's still just an idea at this point... It was something I was jamming on at the end of my practice today. Might perhaps become part of another idea and form a complete composition. Kind of my attempt at a Satriani meets Alex Lifeson sort of thing... Bit of gain on this one.

Anyways, on the LHR then 5th and octave played in a rhythmic sequence First from A, then from F, Then D to E and then to G implying Amin to Fmaj, Dmin to Emin to G7 Nailing the A aeolian Mode, F Lydian, D Dorian, E Phrygian and G Mixolydian. This is achieved by just being aware of the key signature of the chords that supply the harmony and then just messing around.

I tried to use some different stuff in there, rhythmically starting in different spots on my phrases, leaving some space, but still trying to "lock in". meh, still a long ways to go... Imperfect, but it was fun... (Overdrive is sooo fun...)

Lemme know whatcha think, fellas...

Awright, now I gotta go play me some Garden Warfare 2(Plants vs Zombies)

Hehhe Alex Lifeson is the guitarist from Rush, a really great Canadian Rock and Roll Band! And Joe Satriani is basically a messiah for instrumental rock guitarists everywhere! Thank heaven you never heard of 'em! Hahaha

Anyways, just ideas I am messing with, just for fun so I thought I'd share! I am just so happy I can kind of play a little bit...

And Kirk Hammett, Alex Skolnick, Charlie Hunter to name a couple of others. There are more he directly taught, plus the countless millions around the world he's influenced. Satch is the man...

Hey thanks for checking it out, tons of issues to be worked on but I'll get it. Time warbles a bit between the two hands, but again I'm just happy I can play anything at all with two hands.

I think you are developing a style on Stick, since I could hear similarities to other jams of yours. That's a good thing, in that it makes you recognizable. It's a bad thing if you don't get outside of your own box. I know you are far from done, so that's just something to keep in the back of your mind. Keep 'em comin'.

I know both Satriani and Lifeson (although not personally!) and they are both two of my favorite guitar players. Rodrigo knows Lifeson from Rush of course, but Alex--he lets me call him "Alex," at least in my own head--doesn't get the press and attention that Neil and Getty get.

I heard this new ScottJam on Youtube this morning. Sounded like a great jam!

You do have a recognizable sound, but then, doesn't every major artist sound like themselves? You hear a new Stevie Wonder song, and you know it's him. Or better, a new Santana song with a random singer--you still know who it is. From sound choice to song construction to technique--having a "sound" to me seems sorta inevitable. A Johnny Cash song is always a Johnny cash song.

Picasso has a "look" and a "feel" and so does Pollock. I guess I'm not making a point.

I myself am rarely able to sound like anyone else at all, so I always sound like me. In fact, a Rob Martino Stick song, or a Glen Poorman Stick Song, also have a certain "sound," from literal sound to type of music and technique of playing to style. But Rob Martino playing Bach is probably not that hugely different from Glenn or Scott playing Bach. The difference is in the originals, and each artist has a "voice" that we learn to recognize over time. Even if you're just singing "Oh Canada!" it's still gonna sound like Richard Marx.

Keep 'em coming, Scott! I always enjoy your stuff.
