Post Something I came up with a while back
I got caught up in Greg Howard's CD Sol a couple years ago and the Latin things he's doing on that record. I just couldn't get enough of that record and it went into heavy rotation in my car for many months. So I was inspired to put this tune together. I call it "Andalusia". It has a montuno groove as well as a few other stylistic things from that idiom and an A-B-C form. Its' in C minor. If it's too blatantly derivative Greg, mea maxima cupa.....
I play it a little more confidently now that I've been at it a while and added a modulation towards the coda now and the solo is a little more outside the diatonic box - but this is what I laid down when it first came to me. I played to a click in case I might add a certain L.A. drummer that I know would kill it. I'm playing a bamboo 12 string/Stickup tuned MR w/high bass 4th direct into Digital Performer with a couple Chris Lord Alge guitar and bass plugins.

Nice song and nice Stick arrangement on it! I didn't expect the polish. You're off and running and may soon catch up to your professional days on steel guitar. I liked the LH/RH unison feel in the brakes. Some vibrato on those sustained notes would add another dimension, though it detracts a bit from two-handed concentration until it becomes automatic.

The change at 0:56 is all kinds of happening. Very nice.

Love it. At 2'30" you start to prepare what's coming after...this nice augmented arpegiated chord...whole tone in fact. You do it again a bit later. Very nice improvisation parts here and there. Congratulations.

I enjoyed your use of legato, staccato and sustain in the first 2 minutes to make the melody sing. Your chordal choice at the ending was top notch. Because I only stick my big toe in the jazz pool, I lost a little interest for the second half, but that's me, not you. Very good work.
