Music video featuring some stick
I'm still a beginner on the stick, even though I've had one for a few years now. I use it more as a composition-writing, idea machine. Playing keys my whole life create ruts when it's time to write. The stick is wonderfully rut-free.
I am creating a music video for the first song, "Consuming Fire", from the new album. Here's a one minute vid that shows what I've been doing.
It's bass, drums, and stick. And some vocals and minimal keys. I'm very happy with all the stick sounds, but especially the distortion sound (heard in the final 20 seconds or so).

That's so cool, Stick in a monastery! Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. (dig the avatar, also)
How did you get the distortion?

One other notable thing about this song/video, is Phil Keaggy (look him up on youtube) plays some epic guitar solos over the thundering stick. Can't wait for you to hear it!

Wow! Very cool! I'd love to see some of the folks on this site do a collaboration of sorts sometime! I love the "behind the scenes" video too!

Well I clearly haven't figured out how to post an image. Is there a way to do it without having to post the image somewhere else on the web first?
To answer your question Gusset, the distortion is from a little multi-effects pedal from Zoom. It's a G1Xon, used the G5 preset. Two tracks of that, layered with a clean track of stick. Not sure which clean patch, I think it was C0. It's the same clean sound you hear in the first half of the video.
