Post Channeling the darkness
Over the last few months I've had to deal with some very trying things in my life, and while for the most part depression tends to stifle my creativity, in this particular case it bloomed into one of the darkest pieces of music I've ever written. The basic Stick part for this song has been in the works for the better part of the last year, the vocals I wrote a couple months ago as a lot of things just started totally falling apart around me. This will be one of a few songs I'll be releasing as part of my first metal EP. This is also the first ever song I've sang on. Overall I'm extremely happy with how this song is turning out, though of course I'm always after constructive criticism. Do be forewarned that this is merely a demo and the final release will be totally rerecorded and professionally produced, so it may end up being significantly different sounding in the end.

UPDATE: This song is now finished and I no longer have the demo up, here is the finished product!

Nice, good Stick tone and cool vibe. Digging the vox too, the demo as a whole reminded me of parts of Tool's album 10,000 Days.

I saw you posted this in the morning while I was working and the work filter wouldn't let me play it. I knew it would be awesome, and I was not disappointed. Excellent work here. I was most drawn to your vocals.

Yep, I was thinking Tool-ish, too!

In my head, it kicks into the heavy part right after this intro. Now, you may have intended this to be complete on its own or have a different idea for what comes next. Art that is evocative and suggestive as this is, primes us for the next thing to come, and sets and clears the stage for the next emotion.

But I had a massive wall of monstrous guitar sound following this in my head space. Can't wait to hear more from you, ToxiNN/JVD! This sounded pretty professional already, but I'm sure you're going to take it a number of creative directions. Can't wait to hear it and best of luck!

My constructive criticism is i like it very much the way it is and if it's on a metal album the stark contrast would be huge

I enjoyed this. I really admire you going for it with the singing - it sounds good. REALLY good.

I mean, yeah, we're on a Stick board and all, but hearing a voice and being able to relate to lyrics (complete with backstory and all!) definitely resonates with me.

Good show TXn.
