Hello my friends!
Here is the first video from last week's concert, commemorating the Cd release. No subtitles yet... but I hope you get the vibe. It's a poem about all of us, the things we search for in life and having to go above and beyond to find the simplest things: love, friendship...
hope you guys like it ;)
Cheers

A MINHA GENTE Rodrigo Serrão Live @ CCC Feb 2017 | Chapman Stick

:o WOW! How cool, and beautiful, and awesome! Such a beautiful melodious and pleasing sound, deep voice, and beautiful setting!

Is the title Japanese? (It's fits the language but Portuguese and Spanish are both very Japanese-friendly languages, so sorry if I'm wrong!) And what are the lyrics? (Oops. Read too quickly and missed where you explained them. Nice!)

Just so wonderful; thanks so much for sharing! Pardon me while I embed at the top, too! Thanks, Rodrigo!

Thanks Steve, actually there are a bunch of Japanese words that derive directly from Portuguese influence in the 1500... a minha gente however is pretty much Portuguese: it means My people. Thank you, I'll be sure to run the poem by you again if I ever get to translate it to English. ;)

You're so right! Lots of Portuguese influence on the Japanese language and culture going back so many hundreds of years ago. I think it's also that the Japanese word arigatō sounds just like the Portuguese obrigado, both of which mean "Thank you." That's what also made me think Japanese.

"My people"? Oh, cool! Then a traditional and culturally important/significant song as well. Even better! Thanks, Rodrigo!

Superb feeling and tone! Also a very interesting looking stage to perform on. Usually, where I play there is some kind of neon sign spelling Budweiser backwards somewhere behind me, Or from home, my hot sauce bottle collection is visible in the background.

Do you most often play seated? It comes to mind that most of my memories of your videos show you sitting down?

Mike
