Post Stickrad Trio at The Barn
Hi Peeps.

Some of you have been generously asking for me to post more vids. So with a lot of distance between me and this gig, I thought feck it!
Just a couple of doozies on this one. Get over yourself Konrad, I hear someone say... I think I'm there now, it's all about the music now and not trying to be some superhero stickist.

Life's too short anyway, right?

Last year was pretty much a teflon year for me, so this year will be the opposite.

Thanks again for your support and enthusiasm.

Very nice, Stickrad. Trippy flow with some cool creepy, unconventional harmonies(unconventional from where I am from, at least). You guys play well together and seem well rehearsed. I didn't see a lot of eye contact between you all to make sure you knew when the changes were!

Thanks for posting.

This is a meaningful quote to me and something many of us(especially me) need to consider. At a recent seminar(Greg's Va. Stick Camp) I decided not to play during the concert nights. This was because I was recovering from a shoulder surgery and felt I still wasn't up to snuff to play the way I was accustomed to. I should have "gotten over myself" and just played some music. I definitely have an idea in my head of what I want to sound like and am tentative at performing solo until I sound that way. Time to change that.

Mike

Hi Everyone.

As is typical of Stickist.com, I got up this morning and found a bunch of wonderful replies to this post. Thank You!

Hi Randy. Yes, you mean Jon Hassell right? That is some of the best creativity of the 80s, and has definitely been a big part of my listening. Been a long time though, just listening to Fourth World vol. 1, as I post. Thanks for the reminder! I love him on Sylvian's first album.

Thanks heaps Mike. Yep, the looking around thing, I'm slowly getting into it. I think this year is also about trying to not have to look at the touch board. It never surprises me that, even though I've written this stuff, memorising it is another story.

That's huge Mike. Thanks for sharing your inner musical world so openly. It's important to be honest as a musician on any instrument, yes? but as you get older and more experienced, the inner critic just starts fading away, or put to rest. Something like that.

In general, I'm happy to say my composition style is starting to condense and that means some things are sounding more succinct or have more impact. I'm feeling grounded and excited...

Thanks Jaye.

Yes mart, I'm feeling good about 2017, might even do another post from that concert.

Cheers mart.
