I am working in a pari of Go-Pros now. Details as soon as they are ready to share. Good start - Michael is on point with volume, less is more.

Scott, which GoPro do you have? Sold my old ones and recently bought a Session 4 and the the 5 came out and I added that. I use them a lot front and rear on my mountain bikes. The Sessions are a lot easier to use and you can easily cut down the fisheye a lot more. The larger GoPros have a lot more functions in them, most of which I never needed. By themeselves the audio is not the greatest for recording performances, I tried it once at OZ''s that me and Steve Sink speak of frequently

The Hero 3 I used to have I actually gave to a friend as I absolutely hated the thing. I used it with a battery back pack md if you didn't charge them separately, the camera would get extremely hot and malfunction arrears until you disconnected both batteries. The deep menu function were a PITA when using in a hurry.

I have a Hero3+, and I'm just kind of getting into it; I have had one for quite some time! lol I just want to use it as a kind of Webcam that's superior to my imac's isight; I feel like it is definitely that! I will have some reading to do to figure out how to kill the fisheye a bit, but it's fine for what I am going to do. My videos are shitty anyways, so even a slight improvement is welcome haha

So what is it with the Gopros now that you have to log in on your ipad before you can control it via said ipad? Man... that is annoying... A bit of a time sink...

Never used the i-phone/i-pad app, the on-camera controls is all I ever used. The maximum reduction in fisheye will be "Narrow" and you can set the resolution to 1080.

Actually I will mess with some of those settings, although I don't really care too much as long as the video being captured doesn't totally suck.

The iPad to monitor the video and start and stop it remotely is really crucial for me. Logging in really kills my productive groove...

Just out of curiosity, how long can a GoPro video last? Until it fills the card or does it have a limit like SLR 's ?

That's dependent on card size. If I do say a four hour bike race and leave it on, the battery will die before it fills up a 16Gb card, with something like 2 gig the card will go first. I forgot how long the battery goes in a Hero 3, I had used an extra battery pack to squeeze out another 1/2 hour. The new ones I have will go over 2 hours. The ride I did today was about 2:42 and the Session 4 under my saddle was pretty much left on for the whole ride, died around 2:30.

You can alter the resolution to something smaller which will allow longer video time stored on the card as well.

Mine had that remote control key fob which was real finicky and unreliable. Your best bet is get cam corder with a dedicated remote. I find it pretty stupid that I have to go into Quick to save files first before reviewing them; you cannot use a GoPro as a card reader like most cameras.

Another small option are those Zoom cameras with their mics from the Handy series recorders.

I still have to download the iPhone app for GoPro, just switched to a newer hone a few weeks ago.
