Tabs for Splinter by GEPH
We actually got someone asking about tabs for Splinter, so obviously I got way too excited and jumped all over the chance to craft up my parts in tablature. As a long time guitar and bass teacher, tabs are an invaluable teaching tool that allows the younger, newer and more casual students to learn songs without the years-long process of becoming fluent in music notation. However, I've yet to see a system for the Stick that really gelled with me, and have been refining my own system on and off for the last two years or so. I'm sure there's much refining left to do but this is what I've come up with so far. Here are my parts for Splinter in both Matched Reciprocal tuning and Classic tuning. I'd love some feedback! Very cool, Josh. Tell me what notation software do you use for these?

Thanks for posting this Josh, good job! For anyone that is looking for a fantastic resource on how to get your Stick music into Finale, be sure to check out Claire Steger's articles on working with StaffTab. It's in 2 parts and covers every aspect of putting Stick music into a chart. http://www.clairesteger.com/home/stafftab-tutorial-part-1http://www.clairesteger.com/home/stafftab-tutorial-part-2String markers, Note shapes and how to use the lyrics feature to detail the fret number. It's all there. There is a second part as well. It takes a while to master this - Claire can help! So - way to go Boston area Stickists! Looking forward to more original music written for the Stick!

Oh yeah, thanks Gene!
Just to clarify, I was looking for a system of pure tablature, numbers-only-raw-data style in the same vein as what's used for other fretted instruments like guitar, bass, mandolin etc.

I prefer to see a "standard notation/tabs" display as opposed to Staff-tab. For the life of me I couldn't seem to get a template together that would work very well, the notes were pretty whacky... lol

Jay, can you create your own instrument templates and export to pdf from GP6?
