Beautiful Do you play any thing else?

Hi Rob, the instruments I use regularly are

- Guitar (steel stringed acoustic, Stratocater, Telecaster),
- Fretless guitars (one of them is a Harp Guitar; 6 add harp strings)
- Lapsteel (Dusenberg with two levers, for access to "the country idiom"),
- Cello,
- Tenor Sax,
- Alto Traverse Flute,
- Akai EWI 4000s (but since I got the Push I tend to rather grab that one in the studio, as it saves me some time not having to take out the EWI and plug in an extra MIDI-USB cable)
...and of course the Ableton Push for all electronic instruments. And the Stick, how could I forget that!!!

There are no such things as neck or bridge pickup on this electric cello. The sound is picked up somewhere inside the wood, I guess. I don't know how sensitive the NS Cello is for acoustic feedback, as I have not yet used it live on stage. I want to do that in the future though so I will have to test it first on some loud PA system.

I played mine many times on stage (small and bigger) and it's so perfect...no feed back at all. It's a bit normal. It's the difference we can see with an electric guitar and an acoustic one. A lot easier to deal with an electric cello on stage. Even though you play with loud instruments...drums, bass, etc...you can play at the same level and it's perfect. In fact when you play loud, this cello is really close to an acoustic one...when you drive it through a good sound system...of course. Depending with who I play with, sometimes I use different effects...distortion, wha-wha, chorus...etc...

Ah, thank you - very exciting information! Can't wait to bring mine out. I plug it into the AxeFx that goes directly into the house PA system, and for my Cello patches I set up the loudness of my playing to scale the pre-amp input gain. That give a lovely bite in the (modelled) tubes when pressing a little harder on the bow.

I'm working on a video where I play this cello with a band called Mano Ardiente...flamenco sort of group. I'll give you the link when it's done. I like to play harmonics with mine. This example contains no feed back at all, only harmonics and "normal" notes...lol. Come back later to give it to you. Whole band...drums, bass, 2 guitars and myself on cello.

wow Per an EWI. I have theEVI version dont use it much as I bought it used and cant find an instruction book. You need to post a video of you playing some of the instruments. I know its more work but very cool to watch.

I also play the NS NXT Cello since 5 years and as Alain wrote no (unwanted) Feedbacks. If you use a bigger Amp you can play perfetly with the wanted feedbacks (waves from the cab move the strings) . Pretty cool with harmonics and the bow. The Pickup is a piezo like the stick (above 1 MOhm) so i use my bass equipment whcih is compatible with the cello and compatible with the sticks. 8-)
and the only simple way to play cello with a whole band - we tried it some years ago with an accoustic cello.... it was a desaster(as someone mentioned above)

I haven't made many videos but below are two old ones. Last weekend I played Stick + Flute in Milano and will be sent a video DVD, so hopefully I can take out some from that gig and post.

Per! This has been so awesome!

Sorry I came late to the Per Appreciation Party, I just wanted to say that the Stick and cello SoundCloud posts were really great, both in terms of your recording--great tones!--and your writing. I also really enjoy you talking about your gear and your many multi-instrumental skills, and the PUSH stuff, and so much else. You have such a wide range of musical and cultural experience, and creativity, and the like, to share with us and I feel happy to know you and to learn from you. I always enjoy your postings here, on Facebook, and SoundCloud, and I can't wait to see more!

[Sees more stuff on page 2, now with videos!]

I was gonna ask about videos, and then there are videos, too! Let me catch up on some vids, but great work on the 2 SoundCloud posts so far!
