A record I just worked on
I got to play Stick on a gloriously 80's song. I thought we were going to have Adrian Belew on this track but it ended up not working out.
Lots of Octave pedal, heavy vibrato and sliding going on. 2 handed bass. There is a gratuitously long intro to the video so please endure or skip forward. The most fun bits for me were on the bridge and outro.

For the record, remove the S in https, so it's just http AND use the full url https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiR0USBWmZInot the youtu.be version of the URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiR0USBWmZIPop THAT in the youtube tag and you are good to go. Re: A record I just worked on
Thanks Gene, for removing the S. Thanks Johnmarkpainter for "Tiger Eyes". And yes, those large eyes are the focus from start to finish, also the thematic C note that carries thru to each and every chord.
A stationary melody note relative to the key center could be considered as "moving" in contrary motion to the harmony. Just think of the C in this song as a different scale degree for each particular chord in the progression.
Nice game to play but also endless meaningful mileage in Western music. Chords and melody - all the way back to Italian opera and Celtic folk songs.
Must comment on the voice, with a pleasing Bowie like quality. Almost a tradition in English song, I call it "fragile masculinity".

Re: A record I just worked on
I love 80s tunes. I love this one as well. I'm a huge sucker for a nice melody and this tune has it. I like the bass line and the slides. Pop songs have a craft to them and this one is just a beauty to listen to the studio production. Like Emmett, love that male vocal as well.
Did you just play the bass part? Who is this for, as a matter of branding or name-wise (if I wanted to see more of their or your stuff)? Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing!

Evident eighties elements, cross Atlantic either way. Excellent product for the genre.

Re: A record I just worked on
I actually produced this record. Kevin Max and I go way back and have worked together off and on since we were kids in the 80's. Fun to get to do music like we were listening to back then.
I did another record with him last year. Only played Stick on one song on that one. An odd version of "Strangers In The Night" See if I correctly post the link
