Post Scott's Slightly Super-duper, Sunday Stick Shreddery 1
Okay, lol no shredding to be found here, but I do have the outline of a tune I am trying to work out; it's simple for now, mostly because my skill does not yet match my imagination... In a minor key, nothing to crazy, just a gloomy, miserable little riff you could probably drown yourself to... Wait... there IS a cheery section... Oops. Nope, wrong riffs. Maybe next Sunday...

I thought I'd share it in the formative stages, and maybe begin my 3 part apology for not playing the pentatonic bit as 16th note triplets like I wanted to... Ahh well, one day! Getting better, guys. Getting better.

So yeah, this is a bit rough, time is a little wacky and there's a hiccup here and there but I thought the idea was cool and decided to post it. Awright, off to work I go... have a great week, guys!

Important Guitar Information...
1 – Two jazz guitarists meet in a bar, and one says, “Yeah man, I bought your last album, it was awesome!” to which the other replies, “Oh so that was you!”.

2 – What’s the difference between an electric guitar player and a vacuum cleaner?
When you unplug a vacuum cleaner it doesn’t suck anymore.

3 – What’s the difference between a Fender and a Gretsch?
The Gretsch burns longer.

4 – The fact that there’s a Highway To Hell but only a Stairway To Heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers.

5 – What’s the difference between a lead guitarist and a terrorist?
You can negotiate with a terrorist.

6 – What do you call a guitarist who breaks up with his girlfriend?
Homeless

7 – What’s the difference between a lawnmower and an Electric Guitar?
You can tune a lawnmower.

8 – How do you figure out who the guitar player is at a party?
He’ll tell you.

9 – Two guys were walking down the street. One was destitute. The other was a guitar player, too.

10 – A man asks the devil: “how much does it cost to be the greatest guitar player in the world?”
The devil says: “Give me your Soul.”
The man asks: “What can i get for a dollar?”
Devil: “Greatest bass player in the world.”

11 – Why are so many guitar player jokes one liners?
So the rest of the band can understand them.

12 – How does a guitar player protect his Guitar from being stolen?
Store it in a bass case

13 – What’s the range of a Gibson Les Paul?
Depends on how far you throw it.

14 – Why do guitarists prefer playing guitar to cycling?
Because with a bike you only get two pedals.

15 – How can you tell when your guitarist is out of tune?
His hand starts moving.

16 – How long does it take to tune a 12-string guitar?
Nobody knows.

17 – Why bury guitar players 6 feet under?
Because deep down, they’re all very nice people.

18 – How do you get two guitar players to play in perfect unison?
Shoot One.

19 – How do you know someone’s a really good guitarist?
He’ll tell you!

20 – Why do lead guitarists walk around the stage when they play?
To get away from the sound.

Sorry Scott, it will have to wait until tomorrow: really bad weather outside took out the telephone pole... Internet on the phone only and it can't handle a simple YouTube video... But the new stick looks amazing :)

I applaud your enthusiasm for learning and imagining. The parts you seem to have down are "scalar right hand with repeated note left hand". The interesting chordal parts in the left are accompanied by hiccups in the right just waiting for more practice and imagination. There are the inklings of a good idea wanting to be fleshed out. Keep going.

Lol that is the nicest "you suck" I have ever heard. Hahaha Seriously, though thanks for checking it out and giving me some feedback; it helps! This was just a sketch; I will develop it further. I could have done the thing with the "Stick Arpeggio" in the bass, but I honestly just wasn't sure what I wanted rhythmically under there, and didn't want to "brand" it. Just 1/4 notes in the bass so I could have the idea. For now.

Yes. After a year of hard practice I am not much further from where I was I am afraid. I may go into hiding for the next 5 years practicing so that I can emerge at a "playing for 6 months" level...

Scott,

If you "sucked", I wouldn't post at all. This video is definitely a midpoint on the road to awesomeness. It is not at the beginning, off the trail, or at the end. Listen to Steve and you will be just fine.

Just finished watching. I don't agree with the "suck" part. I like the song. I recognize improvement every time you post a new video, and above all, I see a man making music. That never sucks. It's inspirational to say the least. Plus, you're going in your own path witch is different than mine and that always makes me jealous cause you're doing things I cannot do. Keep them coming, keep me jealous, keep me inspired please ;) cheers
