Post I realized this...
Hi Everybody!

I was working on a standard today when I realized this:

My learning the Chapman Stick is not so much a exploration of the instrument and music as it is of the mind and the soul!

Do you guys know what I mean?

Post Re: I realized this...
I pick it up everyday - or try to - and even when struggling to learn something new,(like a scale or note locations) I find I am using parts of my mind and body that I do not use at any other time. It is amazing. In the two months since I got my Stick in the mail my lifestyle has changed and I am living and feeling better than I can ever remember. It is an odd phenomenon to try and explain to others.....But I is a reality - for me anyway.

Very thought provoking and deep post.... Being a bass player for over 40 years, when I cam to the STICK, the instrument initially overwhelmed me as I never played guitar or Keyboards. It has only been since it was suggested to me to tune melody in 5th's that the instrument just "opened up" to me!! For me, 5th's straight across makes it easier for me to view the STICK as one large instrument instead of it being bass and melody side... but that is just me... I am having SO much fun playing and feeling more confident on the instrument.... :D
