Stickology!
Hey Steve, thank you for putting out such a great book and answering my one burning question. About 6 light bulbs went off in my head after just reading your book! Here is a utube post of me walking a jazz blues after working out of your book. Thank you again, you've given me the tools I needed, and its only a matter of time and hard work. Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgsaYvijPscThank you thank you thank you!

Re: Stickology!
Nice vid. Good feel. If my book helped, I'm very pleased. Keep taking steps forward and soon you'll be the Wes Montgomery of the Stick. BTW- on my new performance DVD I play a solo tune called Bloozeneph. It's the same tune as yours but on speed. (actually Mel Bay mislabeled track 2 and 3. The titles should be switched)

Re: Stickology!
I'm soooooooooooo tempted to get the book.
Having said that, I have an entire bookshelf of books that failed to advance me with any other instrument I play. I just don't do the book learning thing very well at all.

Uh, Twizzle, what's the fear? It can't be bad to have another book. Plus there's a DVD included. I think you'll be inspired by the information and the presentation of "Stickology...". Your move. SA

Hmmmn ............ temptation is whispering in my ear and I lack Jesus-like fortitude in that department. If one in the UK was considering the possibility of perhaps purchasing one such book, where would the best place to order be?

Re: Stickology!
Twizzle, "Stickology, A Guide To Playing The Chapman Stick" (Mel Bay) has a $30 cover price. You can get a signed copy straight from the author. Mailing and packaging to UK will run around $10. If you do PayPal add $3 for their fee. So PayPal would be $43 US Check or m.o. is $40 US If you need address email me direct. There's also a separate solo/duo performance DVD available as well (add $27 if interested). You have this great instrument. Why hesitate getting some inspiration as the title of this thread suggests. You cannot go wrong with the book & DVD. The book is very good and funny (I loved your picture impersonating Ron Baggerman Steve ) and the DVDs are inspiring. The shipping was ultrafast. Go ahead Twiz ! PS: Nice to see (read) you again.

Re: Stickology!
Hey Steve, I just wanted to say a HUGE thanks for the Stickology book/DVD, your explanation of how to approach the bass side of the Stick has just sunk in and TOTALLY blown my mind!!! Even though I read the theoretical explanation of the consistency of the 4ths and 5ths before, the way you described it on the DVD really nailed it for me and it's changed my understanding and approach to the bass side completely! Um, yes, I do feel a bit stupid and thick for taking so long to "get it", but who cares, it's a huge revelation for me and that's far more important! Cheers, Justin
