Cool. We're making it an afternoon at the museum, dinner and a concert, parking once. The best way to enjoy LA. : ) Hope to run into you there.

The theatre itself is nice , with good sound. The restaurant is nice too. I’ll be doing the dinner/ show thing too. ( for the sat show )

Finally got to meet Mike in person AND see a fantastic show. The combination of stringed African instruments was impressive, each hailing from distinct regions of the continent. All supportive and creative individuals coming together to make beautiful music.

I posted some video to the FB / IG feed if you want to see =)

A great night, thanks for including me Mike, looking forward to the next night.

Yes it was a lot of fun. The Getty is one of the great places in LA and their concerts are always free. For the curious, If you want to learn a classic kora tune, This video by Derek gripper shows the structure of one. The picking discussions are not too useful but it gives you a handle on how the interdependent voicings and rhythm are constructed. Derek has the sheet music on his web site

Great concert in a great venue and it looks like they have some really cool concerts there. Hamilton de Holanda in March, for free, wow... So, my Stick takeaway was from the kora, playing scales/melodies by alternating notes between the two hands. Not sure how it will work in practice, but it's an idea...
