So I’ve been thinking lately about all of the wonderful “Stick” people which I have learned from, giged with, laughed with etc. And I was wondering if we could have a slightly different type of gathering? Part seminar, part convention, part celebration!!!!! Kind of a way to say thank you to Emmett and the community without having to be either a teacher or student (we are all both at our best) Concerts, classes, jams, and brunches a weekend of thanksgiving? I’m just thinking out loud here and missing Stick friends old and new. Any thoughts on this? Life is short....let’s celebrate! Brett |

I’m signed up for the Vancouver Stick Camp and have been to various events. As much as I've always enjoyed those, dealing with the travel part of it gets expensive and exhausting. Personally, I’d love to see more regional events. It’s been about three years since the last NE Stick Seminar. I’d love a local happening - something that gets the local folks together. (hint, hint, Brett  )Also, I'm not sure if it's just me, but for something where I have to take about a week off work and plan flights and lodging - I need about 6 months to a year lead time to be able to fit that in. For a weekend or long weekend event that I can drive to, it's much easier to get that on my schedule. |

Hi Claire, I'm down on the Southcoast of Mass (Dartmouth), an hour away from Boston. I know Brett is in CT, Josh is in Boston, and there are quite a few other local (New England) Stickists I've seen post here. There was a gathering I believe, just about the time I joined the forum. I wasn't able to make it (not enough lead time), and I was so green I probably would have been rather intimidated anyway! I would love to see a regional gathering, and would make every effort to attend, given enough lead time to make it happen! |
