Post Gilmour Inspirations
A friend last week called me up and said we're going to see a simultaneous worldwide screening release of David Gilmour.
Cool I thought, I love Dave Gilmour.
So there we were at a funky art deco theatre, with average coffee, ready to go. To quote the online material

""45 years after Pink Floyd's David Gilmour filmed 'Live At Pompeii' in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre there, he returned for two spectacular shows, part of his year-long tour in support of his No.1 album 'Rattle That Lock'. The performances were the first-ever rock concerts for an audience in the stone Roman amphitheatre, and, for two nights only, the 2,600 strong crowd stood exactly where gladiators would have fought in the first century AD.""

It was fantastic , he looks much older now than the On An Island DVD in London , but then I think he's 72 now. I was moved at times but thats why I love music somedays.
I'll never get tired of the solo in comfortably numb live.
The short section at the start in the rehearsal studio was great as he reflected on the original gig all those years ago.
Back at sea :? I'm just playing his Bb F G E , the 4 notes unmistakable from a Floyd classic , try it sometime.
" The Great Gig in the Sky" was astounding with that vocal instrumental part delivered like there was no tomorrow by Louise Clare Marshall and the other backing vocalists.

We left pretty happy, and my friend went home to continue editing and mastering a Ritchie Blackmore performance he has the job for , but thats another story.
If you like Gilmours music this is one to look out for on DVD.

David Gilmour has only gotten better; that guy cooks. :D Everything is awesome! Haha "Comfortably Numb" is one of my favourite guitar solos, I love that tune!

Ritchie Blackmore... ummm when he's on, he's on. When he's having an "off" moment it's not too pretty haha I'm a big Rainbow and Purple fan, and I really enjoy what he's done with Blackmore's Night, it's really cool stuff. As an electric guitarist, though Ritchie is a damn mess... always has been. Moments of absolute brilliance peppered with complete dogshit... Steve Morse in Deep Purple has been a godsend (Steve is super nice, and can outplay anyone haha) but anyways, Ritchie is still Ritchie, I love what he does when it's "together" haha the first two Rainbow albums are awesome... And his interviews are awesome! Haha No mercy!
