Perhaps this has been mentioned before, so sorry if I missed it but have you guys seen or heard about Rachel Flowers? She's this lovely young lady who's a very talented musician - she plays pretty much anything, including a Chapman Stick.

Emmett turned me on to her as it turns out they are tight. Wow! Emmett hooked it up so now she is going to join us for a set this Saturday at the Guitar Merchant following the Fall Workshop with Bob, Randy and Emmett.

I managed to make it through the whole 21 minutes - incredible to see how she realizes the music. There's really no way to put it into words. She's this brilliant shining light....

She destroys Potrait of Tracy on bass, and then does some commentary on how to play it. So.... She is certainly not limited to the flute, organ and piano.

Oh, and then she totally breaks out a guitar with Dweezil and crushes Montana.

You can be sure, we'll be getting some video.

Fantastic Gene! She is an amazing player. I did not realize she played bass, flute, and now Stick!

 Blown away! Anyone reading this thread must watch the Zappa Vid. I am interested in
savants and she does qualify for that as far as a definition (see wiki below). Almost always musical savants play piano as she does so well, and some savants play other instruments, and a few that I have come across write scores. But it is rare to find a savant being able to play multiple instruments with such a good ear. To improvise a Frank Zappa solo with
the degree of inflection Rachel manages, well it means something, something like that there
is a universal code somewhere and in that circuit is the possibility for accessibility under special circumstances, (that means us not just Rachel); a way to bypass doubt and conditioning, even to bypass neuro- muscular sluggishness :|, yes? But a savant playing the Stick?!...So many questions.
Perhaps and important one is how many hours?

Another definition for 'savant' is "a learned person, especially a distinguished scientist".
that being different than "savant syndrome". Or so the internet says...

I just scratch my head like a monkey looking at a human skull; what is the source?

From what well does this girl fill her cup?

When I say "savant" I mean that in a respectful way.

I'm a bit surprised no one has posted Rachel's first time touching a stick.
