Switchcraft SC600

I finally found a solid, inexpensive, stereo to 2 mono TRS 1/4 inch splitter box. Its passive, tiny, and extremely simple but saves a stick player from many headaches. Figured I would share this to help out anybody that is in need of this important tool. Recently purchased it on sweetwater for a fair price and free shipping. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SC600

If you know where to get any other stereo-mono splitters online please post them below.
(and dont even think about those crackly Y splitters bleh!)

I like using XLR microphone cables with adapters.
These adapters are only a couple of bucks on eBay.
This allows me to change cable lengths easily.
No noise issues and very configurable.

What's the advantage compared to simple stereo to dual mono cable ?!

Apart from problems with hum noise, it would be the signal splitting. You could send the signal to the amp/amps plus, at the same time, send it to a recording device. Do they have an active one? That would be cool for the Railboard. :)

For me, there are two main reasons I started using this over the standard CBI split cable. The first is accessibility, there is only one cable coming out of my instrument going into my pedal board. I like to run around on stage, the split cable always got tangled up between the two amps on either side of the stage, this setup keeps it neat. My pedal-board stays in the front of the stage and can use normal cables of any length going to the amps from from that center point.

The other main reason is that my splitter cables always begin to crackle out on me over time more so then normal cables it seems. This setup is more solid and the signal sounds better than ever with no hum noise.

Also I have not seen an active version of this device from switchcraft. Maybe there is one out there?

Similar to my experience. My first Stick cable (that came with the instrument) failed about 2.5 years in. Maybe that's not a bad lifetime, I don't know, however the replacement I bought started crackling within 2 weeks, and I baby my equipment.

I don't know if a full stereo cable would be more robust, but I may have to give this splitter a try sometime.

I would not use such a device without knowing its specifications, particularly input impedance. Switchcraft does not publish any specifications, which leads me to assume that it is intended for line level signals and therefore has an input impedance which is too low for Stick usage.

EDIT: This is less critical if you are using an ACTV-2 Block.

You sure about that Rob? To split signals from a stereo input jack across two mono jacks? Never heard of impedance matching two 1/4" jacks wired together.

I was talking about the relationship between the Stick's pickups and the splitter's input, not the relationship between the splitter's input and its outputs.

Really?
Really?

Its just a box that houses a TRS jack hard-wired to a pair of TS jacks like this:
