Re: Only weeks until Interlochen
Interlochen is an incredible experience and really made a difference not only in my playing, but in my life. I was at the very first one and came away feeling really renewed and refreshed and felt I did something very important by attending.
The grounds were built by like minded visionaries with one goal-the most bucolic and immersive experience solely dedicated to just the arts. and they achieved it beautifully.
I felt a calming presence the whole time I was there- as soon as a stepped foot.
IMHO, I believe musicians should travel to certain "hallowed" spots- New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, Sedona AZ and Interlochen. Paris is also on the list, just haven't gotten there yet.
Interlochen is centrally located and at a 1/2 way point in the US and it won't break the bank to attend or go there. I drove from Pittsburgh. Use the forum- you might be able to share a ride. Accomodations vary, you have to ask what else is going on- and besides you are only there a couple of days, not living out your retirement. The Food I thought was good -it got you what you needed. I liked that you could stay there, eat there, and absorb and take time for yourself there. and it didn't break the bank to travel or attend.
Plus there were concerts everynight when I was there. Aside from performances from Emmett and Greg, we got to see Flamenco guitars, some of the top Jazz Guitarists, including Vic Juris, and Lawrence Juber (Wings guitar solo on "Maybe I'm Amazed"- fingerstylist) and Andrew York.
Just Go! send me a PM of thanks later!
