Dear Maida,
You have not lived until you've seen David Lych's USC Film School project "Eraserhead". My icon, "Henry", is the lead character. My hero; the struggling bugger for whom life is none to kind. Actor's name is Jack Nance who is brilliant in this and other Lynch projects.
Very dark and disturbing film, while at the same time hillarious and also confusing. To my knowledge Lynch has never explained what the film is actually about. 70's cult film that ran for maybe two months at the Nu-Art theatre on Santa Monica and the 101 in LA and then at their Saturday Midnight show for I'll bet 20 years. (Maybe 10?) Took two years to shoot and Henry's hair went from about 2 inches high to maybe 6 inches by the end.
Blathering on again.
Anyone who has not seen this film: Please rent it today. You'll either love it or hate it however, your life will be richer for the experience. Not that I'm condoning anything but if you forgot to stop smoking pot years ago, this will go well with a bowl or two.
I used to tell people that if they didn't know that that was Henry on my t-shirt I couldn't be their friend. I have very few friends but they're all too hip, like me.

I saw "Eraserhead" w/ "Pink Flamingos" at the State Theater in New Brunswick, NJ back in the 70's on the insistance of a guitarist friend back when the State was a sleazy pornhouse- it's now the Jewel of the Arts in Brunswicks Renaisance. Things Change.
