Post Cheer up sleepy Jean
Davy Jones, dead at 66.

Every time I read one of these, another piece of my childhood dies with it.

Post Re: Cheer up sleepy Jean
I hear ya! I was really saddened by this news today.

In my first band, the lead singer had a tambourine with Davy's face on it with the Monkee's logo.

They were tremendous performers and entertainers. I saw Davy, Mike and Peter in 2000 and what a show. They were just here last summer and Peter visited one of our small guitar shops.Their songs were written by Tin Pan Alley's finest- Carole King, Neil Sedaka,
and Boyce and Hart, & produced by Don Kirshner and Snuff Garrett. Their movie "Head" is a cult psychedelic classic written and co-produced by Jack Nicholson.

Hendrix opened up to two shows for them- if you can see the footage- the crowd, that came to see the Monkees, is priceless.

Davy had a horse farm here in Central Pennsylvania.

Definitely some quality tunes in their arsenal.

In the late 80s, me and some buddies briefly put together a cover band and one of the tunes we played was "For Pete's Sake".

Loved that tune!
