Hi Everyone,

Jim Lampi will be giving a concert sponsored by the Islwyn Guitar Club on April 25. Details below:
-------------------
Journey into unknown musical regions at the Islwyn Guitar Club

The club once again delves into the unknown regions of the music universe on Friday 25th April when we host a Chapman Stick evening with Jim Lampi, one of the World’s leading exponents of this instrument that combines bass and guitar, accompanied by Siemy Di, a very highly regarded London based African percussionist

Jim Lampi is a native of Los Angeles. Musically, he started out playing sax , guitar, and singing in local bands. He discovered the Chapman Stick from an article in the Los Angeles Times and later took lessons from Emmett Chapman, the inventor of the Stick. The Stick® is an instrument with an unusual range (5 1/4 octaves) enabling the performer to apply the two handed tapping method to dazzling effect.
He has supported or worked with such diverse musicians as Tuck & Pattie, Michael Hedges, Jerry Garcia band and Joan Baez among others, and is a regular member of John Martyn’s touring band.
The evening will commence at 7.00pm with an informal workshop on the Stick© with Jim. This will be followed at 8.00pm with a play around by club members and visitors. The concert with Jim Lampi and Siemy Di will commence at 8.45pm

Tickets cost just £6 (concessions £4) and will be available on the night but may be pre-booked by ringing the Rob on 01495 270078. This concert is supported by the Arts Council of Wales “Night Out” scheme and Caerphilly County Borough Council

Wow, to be there.
So close to Tinturn abbey, Caerphilly castle, Goodrich Castle, Chepstow castle and the wye river valley. This is amazing country.
