Re: Emmett and Tom in concert: March 12 in Carlsbad, Califor
Thanks Greg!
Just to add a few more details: This will be both a performance and a bit of a discussion with the audience about all things "Stick." The Museum is housed in NAMM's headquarters and since NAMM is all about the music products industry, their museum is primarily focused on the history of instrument manufacturing and evolution. I can't think of a more fitting atmosphere or way to showcase Emmett's unique creation. The presentation will also feature a brief edit of Dan Chapman's "Emmett" documentary.
The museum itself is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10am-5pm. In it you'll find all sorts of fun things ranging from a sousaphone and a Beatles Vox amp to a mellotron and a silver polycarbonate 10-string Stick. There's also a small area where some things can be played hands on like Theremins and Roland V-drums. General admission is $7.
For those who might be interested in attending from outside the area, Carlsbad is a very "tourist friendly" area with a wealth of hotels at all price ranges. The museum is very close to other attractions ranging from the public beaches to Legoland. There's also a great independent record in downtown Carlsbad you might enjoy called Spin Records.
