Post Open for biz - CD/DVD design
Hi everyone - life gets curious and unexpected sometimes. I've been a bit busy with the unexpected but am now getting back to the Stick and Stick related things.

I'm now officially open for business for any design work you might like for your CDs or DVDs or whatever.

I designed and produced the complete graphics package for Michael Kollwitz's recent CD Suntan Lady, the Splash Screens and supporting graphics for Marc Mennigmann's iPhone and soon to be iPad FretBoard app - and you may remember Steve Adelson holding Truefire's fire in his hand with his Solar Stick on The Ultimate Stick DVD. There's a link below the graphic to an evolving section on my site with my graphics designs.

How about a solid gold Grand Stick? :) This is a 3d object I built in little over 100 hours.
It is fully functional. You'll see it in operation after the holidays.

You are a madman! I love it. I've been raving lately but for good reason. I would love to someday take advantage of your creative artistry. I would like to see a melting/dripping stick, as if it were candlewax. Really tripped out...

A melting, dripping Stick - that's interesting. I'll give that a try when I get a moment. Do you want your character (caricature) to also be dripping and melting?

My soul is frozen in ice, but like the witch in wizard of oz, I am melting away. The dark side has taken over, but the dark side turns out to be the really enlightened/good side somehow. My hands/fingers are some kind of ice and wax hybrid. Dripping and glopping into puddles below my feet, where are my fx pedals are, infecting and turning the pedals into a part of my feet. Really dark/scary and messed up, kinda like my life haha.

P.s where can I find a good site for that synclavier you helped invent? That was you right? I've researched it a bit and it seems to still be way ahead of todays synths! Look like the one of the greatest synths to me. That was really cool. I wonder if a mac emulator is remotely possible, probably way too much work huh?

Hi Ben - Wow - that's a challenging picture to produce. I guess you answered my question :)

I haven't really looked much for the Synclavier online. There should be several sources of info out there. When I get a breather from the video work I'm trying to finish I'll look around and send you a list of places.

I did not participate in inventing it. I contributed some sounds and ideas to those scientists in Vermont.

I just read the last section of your post, Ben. A Mac emulator? I'm almost finished setting up my new Mac to do just that. I'm calling it my Maclavier :) It doesn't have the same structures as the Synclav but it's getting near the capability. I use a combination of one of the Developer tools called AU Lab and GarageBand and a few other tools. I also create my own sounds for the tracks. I haven't produced anything that's online yet with this new machine but you'll eventually hear a few things coming from me. If you connect with me on Skype, I can play it for you. I have my Mac lined into Skype for lessons and such.

Emmett had Bartolini make a pickup that matched my ten string Ironwood melody strings and I duct taped the pickup to my Stick. It didn't take too long and I had my ironwood playing the big Synclavier.

That's one of the coolest things I've ever heard!

Mind if I ask a question about a Synclavier sound? Any idea how Zappa got the main melody sound for G-Spot Tornado?

Ok - I don't know all of Frank's work. Which arrangement/recording? I know he did an orchestral version of it. If I hear the version you're talking about I should be able to nail down the sound.
Cool guy - Frank. We had an impromptu battle with a Synclavier guitar on stage when I first met him.
That's another story.
