Post A milestone for Heartstrings
I just looked at our ledger today and saw something pretty cool. After our latest gig this weekend, our CD sales just pushed past 10,000!! :D We've played street markets, art festivals, and trade shows every weekend for the last two years, usually doing very well. But I had no idea that so many of our CDs were floating around out there. I need to thank the universe tonight before I fall asleep for all of the blessings that have come to us. After working so hard for most of my life to find the right musical path, things seem to be coming so much easier now that I've found the road that was meant for me. Better late than never, as they say. Thanks to Emmett for buiding the instrument that made my dreams come true!!

This is cool news.

It's funny, I was just discussing CDs with the guitarist in our band a couple of weeks ago. I was just getting to the point where I thought I might go digital only. Playing the loopy more rock oriented stuff at clubs and for a younger audience tends to generate very little interest in physical CDs. Then I did a couple of hours doing "softer" material at a local Hallmark store and I swear, if I'd had CDs with that material on them, I probably would have moved 30 or 40 in the brief two hours I was there.

There is still an audience for the CD and it is the impulse buyers. I would also guess that for those impulse buyers, telling them where to get your music online and giving them a chance to "think on it" is probably a bad idea.

We are running into more and more people all the time at our shows that ask us if they can get our music online. I find it strange that they obviously like our music and are interested in purchasing it, but they opt for getting it online instead of buying it right there when it's sitting on the table in front of them. We actually try to discourage them from going this route, mainly because we offer significant discounts when they buy more than one CD at the live shows. The CDs ar full price online plus shipping, yet some people still choose to walk away and order online :?

We are currently selling our CDs on just about every online outlet; Itunes, Rhapsody, Tunecore, CDbaby, etc. These stores amount to a very paltry percentage of our sales. I still think that nothing could ever beat hearing the Stick live for CD sales.

Congrats!

I generally only purchase music online when I cannot physically obtain it easily. A lot of the progressive rock stuff is hard to find. I had no idea you had music on iTunes. I know what I'm buying when I get home!
