R.I.P. Emmett, your awesome invention changed not only our lives but changed the future of musical instruments forever. Even if not everybody knows the Stick, many of it's design details and Emmett's ideas made their way into guitars, basses, and lots of other instruments. I know as a builder Emmett's vision and free hands technique have inspired me to no end. I hope his ideas never stops blowing people's minds.

So sorry to hear this, it is the saddest news.

Emmett was an innovator to the end. He saw things differently - he had a vision and he pursued it. As Yuta once said, “he was looking for something”. In his hands, something new took form.

This is a loss to the world.

Love to the family

A great tree has fallen. He treated beginners and experts alike with respect and with a quizzical intelligence that somehow always cut to the heart of the matter. He was a throwback to the great polymath inventors of the 19th century. It was my honour to meet him, hear him play and benefit, however modestly, from the fruits of his labours. My condolences to all those close to him and to a community that can never replace him. An inspiring life well led. Thank you.

Robert
