Post Interlochen 2021
Hi all,

I hope you're all doing well. It's been a crazy year. Interlochen cancelled all of their programs for the summer of 2020 for both youth and adults. There was some doubt as to what next summer might bring but we decided to go ahead and plan for the best. With that then, I am pleased to tell you that we are currently planning for a 2021 Interlochen Stick Workshop.

The details are still a work in progress and the official Interlochen web page with registration won't go live until January 15, 2021. We've been given the green light to go ahead and get the word out though so here we are.

Current plans are for the workshop to take place Wednesday to Saturday, July 7-10, 2021.

Our teachers for this summer will be Greg Howard and Larry Tuttle.

I'm really excited to get Larry here next year. He's a monster play who I always feel we don't talk about nearly enough. On top of his Stick playing, he's simply a stellar musician and a great teacher. As an added bonus, Larry is an alum of the summer arts camp at Interlochen.

As usual, I have my own website started at http://www.121normal.com/resources/events/seminar2021

Please check that site regularly for updates and I'll also ping you all with updates as they become available.

Hope to see you all next summer.

Man you're fast!! :o

Yes. The website went live today and registration is open. So far things are looking good for all of Interlochen's summer programs. It is expected that they will be releasing a series of guidelines in March that they will be adhering to with all summer programs.

Im really wanting to come but waiting to register. Not sure when Canadian border will open up or if vaccines will be required to cross. Lots of unknown things. It might not be an issue if you are traveling within the same country. Im crossing my fingers that vaccines happen and this covid thing is in the rear view mirror.

These Interlochen Camps you put on are top notch and i always come away happy. I always learned a lot and met awesome people

Hi all,

Just to update. As of now we have several signups and there is no reason to think that we are not going fully forward with this summer's workshop. We have plenty of room for more. I just received the COVID guidelines for the adult workshops this year and they are as follows:

COVID Processes and Procedures
This summer, ICCA program faculty, staff and participants are required to show proof of either a completed Covid-19 Vaccination (second shot to be completed 14 days prior to arrival on campus) or a medical waiver. We will administer Covid-19 Abbott AG Card Tests upon arrival on Wednesday, July 7 at the 1:00pm registration at the Mallory-Towsley Center for Arts Leadership. This test will require you to self-swab your nose and results will be available within 15 minutes. Also, masking will be a requirement while on campus both indoors and out. Much of our time will be spent on the north end of campus at the Mallory-Towsley Center for Arts Leadership. It is our goal to provide a safe and healthy on-campus experience for all those attending in-person.

On-Campus Meals
We will most likely have meals available "to go" at one of our three campus cafeterias or we will have meals catered to the Mallory-Towsley Center for Arts Leadership.

As always, there is more info on the web at:

Hello again everyone,

So the summer workshop is still looking good and everything appears to be ready to move forward as planned.

We still have plenty of room and if anyone has been on the fence, this would be a good time to get your registration in.

As always, there is more info on the web at:
http://www.121normal.com/resources/events/seminar2021
https://www.interlochen.org/college-creative-arts/programs/chapman-stick-workshop

PLEASE NOTE: The Interlochen website has recently gone through a complete face lift so the link above is the new updated link. The old link is no longer working.

Hi all. I have updated my website with course descriptions for our upcoming workshop at Interlochen. These should be updated soon on Interlochen's site as well although some "new site hiccups" have them just a bit behind.

To see the schedule and course descriptions, you can visit:
http://www.121normal.com/resources/events/seminar2021/schedule.html
http://www.121normal.com/resources/events/seminar2021/courses.html

We still have plenty of room for anyone still wanting to attend.

Well...I just got some really, really disappointing news.

SE informed me that I won't see my Railboard for another 6-8 weeks.

That means I'll be at Interlochen "stickless" :(

And here I had my rig all compact and set up to drag to Interlochen...
