Tap In Time Podcast, Episode 11
Tap In Time Episode #11 is up! Rodrigo shares some neat details about his new album, we get to conduct a cool interview with Rob Gellner (Jzzb8ovn in these parts), we toss some Christmas music into the mix courtesy of Michael Kollwitz, and we make a little Tap In Time announcement near the end. Enjoy! https://tapintime.podbean.com/e/chechen ... b-gellner/

Re: Tap In Time Podcast, Episode 11
This session was really fun. Finally got some time with Rob to talk about his new instrument and what it was like going from a 10-string railboard to an SG-12 to a 12 string grand!
Also, Rod's new album is going to be money, can't wait to hear it!

Thanks for having me on. That was a super fun hang with you guys. It’s always a pleasure hanging out with other Stick players talking about this amazing instrument. Can’t wait to hear Rodrigo’s new work and the next Tap In Time episode.

Re: Tap In Time Podcast, Episode 11
I really enjoy these podcasts!
Thank you.
I have many questions,
Maybe when you do these you can have chats that allow you to comment or ask questions. Not necessarily be able to speak, but if you see a good question, you may be able to bring it up. Maybe do live podcast, with chat room?
Good stuff!

Good stuff! Hey Rey, thanks for the comments! We had visions of people sending us comments/questions ( tapintimepodcast@gmail.com), and then hitting them in following episodes. Answer questions, present other points of view, maybe read that we're dummies. Maybe reach out to a former guest to answer a question. We haven't gotten a great deal of traffic on the email address, though, so "listener email" segments haven't happened. Maybe you can be the first, and start the trend? Perhaps sometime we'll have a live broadcast in the future, but it's hard to say. We've talked about it a little. After things slow down (we're going 100mph in November/December and just trying not to get burned out, frankly), maybe we will try it in 2021. Our announcement at the end of this episode isn't for quite that sort of thing, but it's a little bit in that direction, sort of. Again, thanks for speaking up. Seriously, it's really, really appreciated.

Enjoyed it guys. Looking forward to the new album Rod!
And hey...what are 'goldilocks' frets? I haven't heard of these. How do they differ from Fret Rails? Thanks.

And hey...what are 'goldilocks' frets? I haven't heard of these. How do they differ from Fret Rails? Thanks. It refers to the height of the Rails off the fret board; they're more properly referred to as Goldilocks Rails, but we slip up there at times and use the word fret (oops!). I don't know the exact history, but initial Rails on Sticks were larger/higher off the fret board. The NS/Stick had shorter Rails, though I can't say if that was from day one or not. In recent years, Stick Enterprises made some Sticks with the shorter Rails (when tapping a note on some strings, you can more easily feel the fret board with your finger tip). Lately, some Sticks have been made with a medium Rail height, which somewhere along the line came to be referred to by some folks as 'Goldilocks' Rails. Not totally certain, but I think we talk about this in a little more detail in Episode 8 (Can't Stop At Just One).

I just thought all triangular shaped frets were Fret Rails. In the summer of 2000 I visited Stick Enterprises (the only time I've met Emmett). I got to play around with the very first prototype Stick with Rails. I remember they were considerably high off the board. I remember somewhere someone mentioning they were much lower within a year or two of that meeting.
