Need to ask a question based on an experience with a coworker whose home burned down a few years back - does Don and his wife need anything besides cash? What can happen is they might not have time to shop. With my coworker, her husband by chance was able to fit into some clothing I still had that was a tad small on me. He had been wearing the same clothes for days and had no time to shop as they had to find some place to stay and resettle, among other things that were higher priority. Clothing and other basic necessities we take for granted can be unobtainable for a while for someone who loses their home.
