Introducing a new hardwood laminate: Chechen
Hi Everyone, Stick Enterprises has a new hardwood offering for our Stick®, Grand Stick®, Stick Bass®, Ten String Grand™, Alto Stick™ and Stick Guitar® models. Chechen is a medium-dark brown wood from South America with a tight pronounced grain and lots of red and yellow highlights. It is a little heavier than our other hardwoods but not dramatically so. Photos of the first instrument in this new wood (my new Grand Stick), can be found here: Happy Tapping, Greg

Re: Introducing a new hardwood laminate: Chechen
Supposedly the NS is available in Chechen too! I had enquired about buying one in wenge but was told it was unavailable. However, on the list of available woods Chechen was listed. Not sure if it was an oversight or what

Do the new Goldilocks rails make that much of a difference in playability? This is the first time I’ve heard of them

The instrument in these photos is the first one with them. I've really enjoyed playing it. Everyone has their own preferences, of course. I really liked the original Rails, especially the feeling of precision, and more room for the fingertips, especially at the higher frets (no other instrument plays so well up high). I also like not having a lot of contact with the wood. I feel like holding the note takes less effort, for some reason, maybe because more of the finger pad "wraps" around the string. These new frets give me plenty of clearance above the board, but they also have the other advantages Emmett mentions on this page: http://www.stick.com/about/innovation/rails/There are some photos there for comparison.
