Post (Is there) Tonal difference between diff models/materials
Hi Peeps . Loving the direct, resounding sound of my Graphite Stick as I do (Classic Tuning-Hvy Gauge strings), I was wondering if any other materials, esp Padauk or Indian Rosewood have a noticable change in timbre.

Bob Culbertson told me @ our Sydney seminar that the difference was negligable & I can appreciate that, I'd just like to know if anyone has experience a discernable difference in  any material that is even a bit warmer & richer than Graphite. Once again I LOVE my X36 esp in the low end

Hi Radkon,

There are some subtle differences, but they are much less than the differences the pickups provide. While all of the instruments have fantastic sustain, the graphite and bamboo instruments (like the polycarbonates before them) seem to have a slightly longer decay of the higher frequencies, but again, this is very subtle.

The differences that are there have more to do with construction than with material. The hardwoods all have the same lamination pattern, and the bamboo has three tiers of finer laminations, and the graphite is a different structure entirely.

Just curious, what kind of pickup do you have, and what are you plugging it into?

I know RadKon is pretty busy, so I'll add that he has the P4 pickup and I think he's running it through a P.A at the moment, not a dedicated Stick or bass amp. Please correct me if I'm wrong, old scrote. :p

Thanks EvilGus for your premptive strike  Wow Greg, great to hear from U. Justins specs re my set & correct , I'm presently starting to get a real stride up in my practice on both Emmetts & Your book Greg.

I think one day when I have too much money I might go for a Padauk 12 String just to have wood under my hands, but in many ways I think I prefer the Graphite as "First base".

Thanks for all the inspirations guys.
