Post 20 years of "Sol"
Hi everyone,

I can't believe it was 20 years ago that I released my CD Sol. This was the first really serious "band" production I attempted. With a cast of supporting characters that includes, John D'earth, Tim Reynolds, Dawn Thompson and Darrell Rose, no wonder it's held up all these years.

I still enjoy playing these tunes, and audience members still request them, so if you haven't heard it, I encourage you to check it out, only $10 plus shipping from my online store

https://greghoward-com.myshopify.com/pr ... enco-style

also available from Stick Enterprises:

https://stick-enterprises-store.myshopi ... reg-howard

and amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/Sol-Greg-Howard/ ... =8-1-spell

Here's a review from the Washington Post's Mike Joyce...

It's a really good album; The Stick work really hits hard, and there's a great balance in regards to the overall arrangements and blending of instrumentation. A fun listen to be sure!

I have to say that while there are standouts for me on several records, this is probably my favorite complete work of yours.

A fantastic milestone for you Greg. I think this had some sax on it, did it not?

i remember once i was trying to play part of "Goya's Dream" and figured out that my classical tuning could be a problem ( i guess it was done in Baritone?! Greg?!)

now i know that whatever tuning it is-that is not the problem..it is me :)

Thanks, everyone for all the kind comments.

For anyone who might be interested in learning how to play some of these tunes, four of them are in the Greg Howard Songbook.

It would be fun to have a group performance of some of them at a Stick Night sometime.

And here's "Guitarresque" live at the Montreal Jazz Festival:

Have a great day.

I have to say, I like listening to the CD, but man, when I watch you perform this it takes on a whole different meaning! That is a great display of musicianship Greg, some real challenging passages and you do it so fluidly - it is truly inspirational.
