Post subject:  New Railboard day!
Just received my new Railboard on May 3, 2017!
S/N: 6997
Blue with Linear Silver Glitter inlays
Chrome Tuners w/Black Buttons
Baritone Melody tuning w/Med strings
Ordered Jan. 17
Deposit placed on April 7
Delivered on May 3
So about 3-1/2 months to complete

I had to lower the belt hook to the last hole. it was riding a bit high.
It's a striking instrument, very beautiful. It's heavier than I expected.
I've only messed with it for a little while. I've got to do a proper session and try out all the Pickup options with a stereo setup. I also did not see a Serial Number anywhere on the instrument (just on the box). Is it hidden somewhere?
Now I can send back my old Ironwood S/N 1203 for a fresh setup.

Looks great! Congrats! That was my first thought when picking up my Railboard, which is the first one I ever held, and said "Man, that's heavy!" But that was after playing a few months with the much lighter Rosewood 10-string.

But you quickly get used to that on the Railboard, and if you play sitting down with the DBro Holder or something like it, you don't notice the weight at all. Which is why I never play my Railboard standing up, actually.

3.5 months is awesome! Mine was more like 120 days or so. Coincidentally, I checked this app on my phone that tracks the number of days things have passed, and today is exactly day 500 since I got my own Railboard! (21 December 2015) :o

Thanks guys! I found the S/N (cut into the fingerboard just above
the damper-thanks Cambria!) It is a very sexy instrument. Won't have much time to dig in till next week. Now that I've got the Railboard, I can send back my Ironwood #1203 for a fresh setup. Plus I've got the NS as well. I'll post a family pic soon. In the meantime, here's a few more Pix..

Hey Pete, that's one of the reasons that makes the stick THE STICK! Another genious idea: this makes the first fret as playable as any other.

LOL, Rodrigo, I'm well aware of the playable first fret like on my instruments as well.

But what I'm seeing on the Railboard pic looks very different than say a 10 or 12 string Non-Railboard stick. On the Railboard the entire first fret is exposed but how does this work without changing intonation across the rest of the fingerboard? Perhaps a side shot would clear this up?

For a tapping instrument the nut has no purpose except to hold the string in place at a certain height. Intonation is not effected because you can't tap the nut for a note... The distance from the nut to the first fret (or X-fret) has no effect to the intonation of the remaining frets.

There are some players who do play an open note and the Railboard doesn't work for those songs. I remember Kevin Keith mentioning that there is one song he plays an open note and therefore can't use the Railboard for it...
