Stay tuned...
Hey y'all, I am not usually the most patriotic guy, but I have a special surprise in store for the Stick community, to be revealed on July 4th which is what we in the US know as Independence Day.
Get ready.
(There will be no aliens involved)

Re: Stay tuned...
Could it be you're working up an arrangement of Star Spangled Banner with all the rockets' red glare as Hendrix played it? Somebody ought to do the "WoodstIck" rendition. (Hmmm, tempting to work it up myself.) There's no whammy bar and no third hand to play it, but a super light gauge melody set could bend up a 4th then dive-bomb and set off the alarms.

Re: Stay tuned...
Emmett, that's a great guess. I won't confirm or deny whether my surprise has anything to do with the national anthem. Regardless, I think we'd all love to get your take on it!
Steve, heck let's have a show of hands. Everyone do your Stickiest impression of Hendrix. That would be a fun fireworks display.
To clarify my comment about being patriotic: I do love my country and I actively ask myself what I can do for it. That's about the extent of my patriotism.
Still, I've always identified more as a person of Earth and the land more so than political lines drawn on a map. I try to have a good sense of humor about all of it.

Like Emmett, Jimi has always been a major influence. Picked up electric guitar because of him. (quickly put it down and picked up bass, but insisted on opening sets w/ S.S.B. on fretless complete w/ Big Muff, wah, and SpaceEcho). Maybe the ONLY short-coming of the Stick is you can't dive-bomb DOWN...but you sure can bend UP! Let's here it for all Hendrix tributes on Stick! HAPPY FORTH. (intentional misspelling) BLOW IT UP.

Re: Stay tuned...
Right after converting my "freedom guitar" for two-handed tapping in 1969, I began to design a bodiless "Stick" version. My first neck beam was a resilient but somewhat rubbery bar of extruded gray plastic, about 2 1/2" wide by a half inch thick. I still have it in the shed, my museum of early Stick designs.
I had to have the divebomber effect and knew the value of Hendrix's simultaneous up and down string bending. The result was appalling. My first Stick like design bent like a bow and arrow (good for something I guess).
After that, I gave up on the whammy effect, having no third hand to operate the bar. Imagine bending the whole Stick neck, bending forward to slacken the strings to any degree. Would look good too. (Yeah, it's partially about looks.)
