New Featured CD, Steve's "Sonic Imagination" - preview
Hi everyone, Steve sent me a few tracks from his new disc, and I put together little montage of 4 of them as a preview for you to check out from his new CD, Sonic Imagination. Steve has put together an all-star lineup of his core band-mates and guest artists, playing all original material by Steve... What I've heard sounds great, and he assures me there's lots of surprises in store beyond these sounds. SE should have the disc in hand in a little less than 2 weeks. Listen and read more at stick.com: http://www.stick.com/features/cd/Congratulations, Steve!

Thanks to Greg for putting these clips and promo on the site. Tip of the iceberg if you will. Ten diverse originals with nine guest players. 'Twas a great experience writing and arranging this original music. And the contributions from my amaxing guests are outsatanding. Thanks again Steve A

I heard things I loved and things I could learn to love. Is it bad that the last clip made me think of Ren & Stimpy?

I was reading about the musician's name on this cd and the one who surprised me the most is Ralf Illenberger. I have a couple of cds where he plays guitar. I was listening his music many years ago and I didn't know where he was. I now have a small idea...

Ralf is a great guitarist in the Leo Kottke ingerpicking style. We gig togethrr 2-3 times each year in Arizona. This last trip we recorded a cool duo track for this CD. A fun little intertwined string adventure. SA

I have to check in my cds...they are all in a carton box for the time being. But I remember him as a very good guitarist.

Ralf can be New Age at times. He recorded for New Age label Narada Records. But he can also play very dynamically. The three other guitarists on the CD were fantastic in their own unique way as well. Very inspiring to play with top shelf musicians all around SA

I don't remember around what years...probably about 20 years ago and the production was great. I bought a lot of this New Age music at this period of my musical life. I like to play jazz but I also played this music...and many other styles. I know he's a great musician. Living here in Canada we often loose a trace of musicians living in the U.S. I remember in '82 I was in Florida (Hollywood) and I've seen an ad about a band playing in Miami (football field of a University...don't remember which one) and it was great. I've known this band so many years before (early '70s) and I didn't know they were still together...I just forget their band name...a flute player was the leader. No, it's not Jethro Tull...lol.

Steve, Got the appetizer, now can't wait for the main course!
Accessible, Listenable and Pleasurable! Great interaction and communication and superb writing. The melody lines are easy to follow and are memorable.
There will be no pigeon holing by any reviewer on this wide ranging disc. The production values are excellent, your Stick and your playing all have your hallmark signature sound, creativity and phrasing, and the songs, from the sampler, are very genre crossing within the Jazz and Pop/Jazz world! Rachel Z's playing is right in the pocket. I believe that was Oz on the distorted track shredding it up.
Congratulation on writing and putting out a CD of this caliber in a really short time! There are unmentionable artists who take years, and will not ever come close to this disc! take care and much kudos, Dave B
