I had talked to Kevin Keith recently who works over at youtubeLA. Youtube will automatically crawl and consolidate related videos and then dynamically create a youtube channel based on the content. It does not ask permission, it just grabs public video data and lumps into it's video repository.

It is not all Chapman Stick specific material as evidenced in the Cheap Trickvideo which actually only features Bun and Rick from Cheap Trick and Tony Levin. The youtube tool makes associations with metadata and compiles the channel, just like it did with the Chapman Stick channel

Funny to see excerpts from forum discussion echoing by as YouTube video texts. But there seems to be no link to the referred forum texts from that YouTube channel page. I subscribed and look forward to check out what this auto generating motor will come up with.

I am personally not fond of this idea. It might be novel but I think it is not a distant cousin of
robotic data mining. We should respectively ask for the name back (how can the robot use "stick.com"?) and take control of the site with well chosen videos that could be periodically changed...

"Goya's Dream" can be at the top of the list but I see no reason for "Anthrax"

Note: Just in the time it took me to write this the site has changed; "stick.com"
has been changed to "Chapman Stick" and the selection is much more
Stick oriented. Is this another robotic 'refinement' related to what "it" thinks
I might be interested in; as in everyone who goes to this site gets a different
selection related to there past history?

Data is the name of the game for Google. I get a similar if not identical data set when visiting the site JRJ. The number of page hits alone does not determine the the ranking as the algorithms that are used to generate rank are sophisticated as the day is long.

I expect Manny might have some ground for flagging specific videos, but I don't know who has that kind of time.

I barely have enough time to keep caught up on the Stickist!
