Greg, I meant no offense - purely that I found your representation of the uncrossed position an amusingly exaggerated one - just as mine was supposed to be of the crossed position. I never played that way when I used crossed tuning and I'm sure your hand wouldn't wouldn't resemble that of your pict... |

Hi Greg, Thanks for the post - in particular the amusing photos - I've attached my equivalents ;) I have to confess that I don't understand your comment about uncrossed tunings segregating the sets of strings more than crossed - surely it's just the same for an uncrossed bass hand to move in and pl... |

Hi guys, I have been putting together a live rig over the past couple of years and I've got it all together and am wondering if any of you have some advice as to the best way to route things. The basic plan is to use my laptop as an effects unit/VST host/looper. At the moment I am running my Graphi... |

Greg, many thanks for taking the time to write the above message. In fact, you touched upon all of the questions and concerns I had in mind. I think a new type of tuning is before me: Question #1. How often do you use your highest melody note or your lowest bass note? Rarely really. I was actually ... |

Thanks for the comprehensive replies Greg -as always much appreciated. Sorry for the delayed response - stuck in Devon with limited connectivity at the moment! Masses of helpful information re crossed versus uncrossed tuning in your last posting. I agree (if I understand correctly) that the bass st... |

Greg, I think you make a very important distinction between parallel vs. mirrored 4th tunings in playing uncrossed. I concur with everything you say about the comfort and 'playability' plusses of crossed tapping. I am curious about one thing though: When I play crossed, I occasionally have to recon... |

I was interested to see what basic processing people generally do to their signal when playing stick as a bass in the band context (levin style). I have ACTV2 pickup through a markbass 2 x 10 and add a small bass boost and and a fair bit of high shelving EQ cut to smooth it out. Also a light compre... |

Some excellent players using uncrossed parallel 4ths: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wShR8H5QWSM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mg7W3fGP0Q Mad Monk. Hi Randy and Ian, First, I can't argue with great playing. Thanks for posting the videos. (Randy, I always thought Adam used an offset guitar tuning,... |
