That's still a Major triad with the 3rd in the bass, called first inversion. Also written as G/B which means G chord with B in the bass, The B could resolve better as a leading tone to C, the tonic. BTW- a true diminished chord usually links two other chords or inversions of the same chord.

Indeed Glenn is correct. Often a dim. triad or Half dim. 7 chord (m7b5), functions as the V dominant. i.e. In the key of "C" V=G7 (GBDF) which has tension resolving back to the root (tonic) C vii= Bm7b5 (BDFA) which is G9 sans the root G. You've put the G in the chord so voila a V dominant... |

With more playing time, muscle aches will subside. The bigger problem is when you practice and your wife/girlfriend announces you're a pain in the neck
