That was a cool read, man! It kind of parallels my own journey as I try to figure this crazy instrument out.
Cool! |

RODRIGO!!! lol Hi. Okay, there's a lot of stuff to think about here; Another factor is most likely the string tension/setup also; I am pretty sure that I am "over-articulating" because the notes just don't resonate the same way in 4ths on the bass side as they do in 5ths. What Emmett has p... |

Gotta use hand movement. The "fingers only" method of articulation is going to kill your tone... And hurt your fingers. When the hand moves, the finger is kind of an extension that is the focus for the energy that is coming from the arm... When you play that way, there is no distinction be... |

Tuning is a very personal choice, also depending on the role you choose for The Stick - soloing either as song arranger or improvisor, or as a band member, reciting classical piano literature, playing a particular genre. Yes, I experimented early on with bass 4ths but was strangely disappointed des... |

Pete! I love your playing, you sound great! Didn't you post a video somewhere of a Frank Gambale tune? Maybe a riff off of one of his REH videos or something, perhaps?
Anyways, good stuff, dude! Keep on posting it, and I'll keep on watching and listening and learning! |

All good, I have changed tunings a LOT. Mirrored 4ths really has a lot of advantages to me for a lot of reasons. Any kind of chronic pain of any sort is a deal breaker... I'm in really good physical shape, and I listen to my body in regards to discomfort, pain, etc. I plan to be playing a long time ... |
Couldn't you just not bend your wrists like that? I guess I'm having a hard time visualizing why the different tuning makes you bend your wrist differently.
Sometimes the body needs to bend and twist in unusual ways in order to get the notes you want. Sadly, the notes that the "... |

Call SE and request a non-angled post for the belt hook assembly. Many players do not know that angle of the fretboard is made flatter to your chest by installing one of these. The wrist does not have to bend so much, but you might have to crane your neck a bit to see what you are doing. I think bo... |

So Scott, Were you trying to play the left hand 4ths with 3 fingers or 4? 3 lets you keep you left hand more open, more comfortable, less wrist bending, etc... Lol you know me, always 4. But... I thought maybe that might be a thing, and tried a mostly 3 fingered approach to see if there might be a ... |
